The system, not the colour
A decade warranty is a claim about a coating system — substrate, primer, intermediate, and finish chosen together for the exposure and the asset’s design life. A warranty that does not name the system it covers guarantees nothing specific. Where the system protects exposed steel against corrosion, it is specified to ISO 12944 durability classes so the warranted period matches the real environment — coastal, high-humidity, high-UV in the Accra context.
A verified substrate
A coating laid over a contaminated, friable, or incompatible substrate cannot adhere, and no warranty survives that. Real cover requires the substrate to be assessed and prepared to a defined, recorded grade — surface preparation defined against ISO 8501, and adhesion to difficult substrates verified to ASTM D3359 — so compatibility is proven, not assumed.
Verified film thickness
A coating only delivers its rated durability at its specified dry film thickness. Applied too thin, it does not carry the protection the system was designed to provide. Real cover therefore requires dry film thickness measured to ISO 2808, taken across the warranted areas as the build proceeds, so the specified protection is confirmed installed rather than assumed.
A stage-QC dossier
A finished wall hides everything that determines how long it lasts. Each hidden stage — substrate, prep, primer, thickness — must be inspected and signed off before the next coat covers it. The product of that regime is a dossier: per-stage QC sign-offs, ISO 8501 prep grades, ISO 2808 thickness readings, ASTM D3359 adhesion results where applicable, and a defect-and-correction register. That dossier is the warranty’s evidence base.
